Draft
Survey is used to calculate the weight of cargo loaded on a vessel or a barge
at its embarkation point and unloaded at its destination. The procedure is
complicated involving many factors including ballast, consumables onboard such
as fuel oil, fresh water, etc., the accuracy of the vessel's hydrostatic
tables, conditions of the draft markings on the vessel's hull, weather and sea
conditions at the time of survey.
Our surveyor derives weight from mathematical formulas
utilizing interpolation methodology, an exacting process to address correction
to the perpendiculars, hull deformation, trim, heel, density for displacement,
etc. Common draft surveys include bulk commodities such as fertilizer, pulp,
gravel, molasses and oil, etc.
